SFRRC Community Conversation with Olympic Gold Medalist Frank Shorter

You are invited for a special evening with, Frank Shorter, the Gold Medalist from the 1972 Olympic Marathon in Munich, Germany. Frank went on to win the Silver Medal at the 1976 Olympics. Frank is considered by many to be one of the Greatest (American Male Distance Runner) of All Time. AKA: G.O.A.T. We are deeply honored to be able to have Frank join us.

The evening should be filled with something for everybody including 20 minutes of Q&A for Frank to answer any of your questions. It was Frank's win in the 1972 Olympics that kicked off America's first running boom. And perhaps it is Frank, in a circuitous way, that we can thank for our running today. With our immense and sincere gratitude.

Our conversation will cover three major areas:
- The Gold and Silver Olympic Medals (and what it did)
- Training (that got him to these major victories)
- Advice and motivation for all runners (of every pace)

Special Note: Frank Shorter was the Chairman of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) at its inception. USADA is a very active and aggressive agency whose goal is to reestablish a level playing field – free from illegal, performance enhancing drugs. As Frank said, "We look forward to proving beyond any doubt that American athletes are not only the best in the world, but also the cleanest.” The Gold Medalist at the 1976 Olympics in the marathon was from East Germany. It is well known that East Germany operated a state-sponsored system of providing performance-enhancing drugs to as many as 10,000 athletes from about 1968 to 1988. In the mix of our conversation, we will discuss clean sport throughout and it's imperative throughout the world.
