Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update and More  - Aug 9, 2020
The health and safety of our runners is our #1 priority

COVID-19 isn't going away anytime soon and our actions save lives. So, please...
👉🏾 Wear a mask. 
👉🏾 Wash your hands. 
👉🏾 Physically distance.
👉🏾 Avoid mixing with people outside your household. 

All SFRRC runs remain canceled until further notice and the City's Public Health Order for residents to STAY HOME continues

On a positive note, p
er our health orders, we may go outside for a run. That is not canceled. In our efforts to keep the SFRRC community connected and healthy we are bringing back "Yoga for Runners / Athletes Lab" on Wednesday evenings, hosting weekly scavenger hunts, next Book Club read discussion is coming soon, and encouraging running, of course!

Additionally, club members (when logged in to our website) can click "Weekly Route" for routes that we’ve posted to give you different routes from your neighborhood. Of course, when outside, please be ever vigilant to maintain the mandatory physical distancing of at least six feet from any other person (we encourage far more additional space when exercising particularly if running behind another person based upon simulations that we've seen), avoid groups, and 
cover your face.

High Level: Our sincere THANK YOU to every grocery store worker, pharmacist, delivery worker, and, of course, our nurses (including our March Member of the Month - Diodita) and doctors, and everybody on the front line and helping support our healthcare system and keep our city safe. Plus, to the researchers in the scientific community looking to find a cure for this pandemic, thank you.

Personal LevelLet’s look out for one another, be kind, and do our best to make this time a little better for othersIf you run, from afar maybe give a nod, wave, smile, "hello" or a thumbs up. And, on a different note, let's say "thank you" a little more often to those serving us. The world can use more love right now and everybody appreciates it. Social isolation is also real, so during these trying times let's check in with our loved ones and others too. We are grateful that the SFRRC spirit is alive and that you are such a conscientious crew!

Additionally and fundamentally, we stand in solidarity and support of everybody's right to safety and stand against all forms of racism, bigotry, hatred, and violence. Where others seek to divide, let us promote unity. To our Black community, please know we are your allies. We are listening, learning, and taking steps to be better and make this a safe and equitable place for you and all. We have updated ouSFRRC Code of Conduct Policy with this in mind and in our steadfast commitment to be an anti-racist organization. Please consider joining us for our next SFRRC book club reading of "Race Across America."

P.S. It is with joy that we bring this uplifting story to you. We held back on sharing immediately because we needed to be attentive to the coronavirus situation/health orders that were beginning. But, in the first half of March, Chau Smith completed her quest of running a marathon in each of the 50 States... at the Big Island International Marathon (replete with waterfalls, surfers, lava beaches, sea spray, and rain forest) with all of her family present.

Club members: We'll keep you posted with weekly emails and updates when available. 

NOTE: Wash hands with soap and water, cover your cough or sneeze, and other guidance is available at the San Francisco Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control & Prevention.

What are your 2020 fitness/running goals? Join our SFRRC community today. To keep our club connected during this shelter-in-place, we are hosting live "Athlete's Lab / Yoga for Runners" sessions via Zoom on Thursday evenings for Club Members and your guests. And if you need to go outside for a run or walk, we're having a running "challenges" happening each week. They are good fun!

And after these days of solo running are over, we look forward to having you run with us, San Francisco's largest running club, on the streets (track and trails too) of our city, join us for our happy hours, 
educational club nights, breakfasts and more! Whether you are training for a 5k or marathon or just want to run with some good/kind people, the San Francisco Road Runners are with you.


We typically run five times a week: Saturday for our Club Runs (75+ runners), Tuesday nights at Kezar Track, Wednesday nights from Sports Basement-Presidio, Thursday nights along the Embarcadero, and Sunday mornings on trails in Marin. Now over 500 members (as of January 2019), and growing, of all ages and training paces from 7:00 min/mile to 11:00 min/mile, you'll find plenty running at your pace.

Run a race in Fall 2020 - with hope! Train or qualify for Boston with us or train for San Francisco or one of the World Marathon Majors or another destination race or one of your choice. It’s way more fun and a lot easier with others... especially the long runs.

SFRRC's inaugural Running Camp took place in early May of 2019 in Occidental and its surrounding trails/roads and the Sonoma coast... kicking-off on the lovely Kortum trail.

SFRRC Book Club - we read four books in 2019 and they began again in February 2020!

In 2018, we begin our Member of the Month to recognize someone who brings a particularly positive contribution to the club... it might be from a comeback story, or their joyful/helpful presence at club runs, or they inspire others with their beautiful spirit, or they trained with us and ran one exceptional race.

We invite our all our San Francisco Road Runners Club members to join us on Strava (a joyful social network for runners). Think of it as a way to encourage one another and keep track of your running at the same time. Plus, look back at how you did on previous runs, workouts, and races.

With our deep gratitude to Honey-Lou for the wonderfully joyful and encouraging spirit she brings to the San Francisco Road Runners.
She is now an official Club Ambassador and with her kind and loving heart she makes everybody feel right at home. In these COVID-19 days, you will often see H.L. on our Scavenger Hunts... and simply being a role model of good running with her face covering and social distancing. Thank you, Honey-Lou! What keeps you motivated, H.L.?
"I’m motivated by my future goals for my family. I want my children to have a healthy lifestyle.

I get motivation from a hard day of momming. When I’m pulled into many directions by my three kids, you better believe I’m gonna go for a run as soon as my husband gets home to pull myself together. I come back from my run revived and ready for more of life."
