Please register now, and join us for a wonderful evening learning tips and best practices for (San Francisco Marathon or others) marathon preparation in the final days and the during marathon itself from the GREAT writer and coach - Mario Fraioli. He was the senior editor at Competitor magazine for six years and in November 2015 launched "the morning shakeout" - the popular weekly newsletter about running. To give you a sense of Mario's respect/admiration in the running community, and his depth of knowledge, last week's hour long interview podcast supplement to "the morning shakeout" was with one of the most recognizable figures in ultrarunning, if not all of running, Dean Karnazes. And shortly after winning the NYC Marathon, Mario had a similar length podcast interview with Shalane Flanagan. It was of the most insightful conversations there was with her.
As a coach, Mario's enjoyed helping athletes work toward their goals, which over the years have ranged from first finish lines, personal bests, and Boston Marathon qualifying times to national championship titles, Olympic Trials appearances, international podiums, world championship teams, national records, and even the Olympic Games.
Mario grew up in Massachusetts, spent a few years in San Diego, and currently lives north of the Golden Gate Bridge with his wife Christine, their four bikes and dozens of pairs of running shoes. His experiences as an athlete, coach and journalist have provided a particularly unique perspective on the sport of running. Join us for a special evening of learning.
To feed our bellies we'll have plenty of tasty pizza, and fruit to keep us honest. And for those not holding back from wine or beer, we'll have that and plenty of other good refreshments too. On a fun note, Mario and your track coach met at the Santa Rosa Half Marathon in 2015. Mario won that day, John took second.
